Difference Between Udyog Aadhaar and Udyam

Following are the key differences between Udyog Aadhaar and Udyam certificate:

Identity Proof Udyog Aadhaar registration requires the Aadhaar number and PAN of the applicant and certification is done as per the old MSME criteria. Udyam requires only the Aadhaar number of the applicant and registration is done based on the new MSME criteria.
Integrated Registrations Udyog Aadhaar is not integrated with other government portals. Udyam is integrated with other government portals i.e., the Government e-Market (GeM) portal and TReDS portal. Thus, you can avail of all the above registrations through a single application.
Form Udyog Aadhaar application form is shorter and requires fewer details. Udyam registration application form is relatively long and it also fetches details from the income tax and GST portal.
Aadhaar Link with Mobile Even if the mobile number is not linked with the Aadhaar number, still Udyog Aadhaar can be generated. It is necessary to link your mobile number with your Aadhaar number to generate Udyam.
Number of Applications that can be Filed Multiple Udyog Aadhaar can be generated with different firm names. Only one Udyam can be generated with an Aadhaar card.

How to Convert Udyog Aadhaar to Udyam Certificate – Step by Step Process

As the erstwhile Udyog Aadhaar has now been replaced with Udyam, therefore, people already having existing Udyog Aadhaar registrations have been provided a facility to migrate to Udyam. If you are having Udyog Aadhaar registration, then follow the below steps to convert your Udyog Aadhaar to Udyam:

  • Visit the Udyam registration portal
  • Click on ‘For those already having registration as UAM’ under the heading ‘You can Migrate to Udyam (Re-Register) here’
  • Enter your Udyog Aadhaar Number
  • Select between the mobile and e-mail options to send the OTP. The OTP will be sent in the mobile number or e-mail ID as provided while registering for Udyog Aadhaar
  • Enter the OTP
  • Verify your PAN
  • Fill in the application form and provide all the requisite details. Click on ‘Submit’. Once you get the OTP, enter the same to file your application.
  • Once the application is completed and approved, you can download your Udyam registration certificate.
