E-Invoicing Registration - How to Register for E-Invoicing

Home Blog E-Invoicing Registration - How to Register for E-Invoicing

E-Invoicing or Electronic Invoicing is an electronic mechanism where B2B invoices are authenticated by GSTN. Under this system, a registered person generates an invoice on his accounting software and uploads it on the Invoice Registration Portal. Then IRP issues an Invoice Reference Number and  QR code against that invoice. After the issuance of IRN and QR code, all the information related to the invoice is transferred to the main GST portal and the e-way bill portal.

To generate e-invoices, it is necessary for the taxpayer to register himself on the Invoice Registration Portal. If the taxpayer is already registered on the e-way bill portal, he can use the same credentials to log in to the e-invoice portal. However, if the taxpayer is not already registered on the e-way bill portal then he can register himself on the e-invoice portal by using his GSTIN and mobile number.

Who is eligible to be registered on the e-invoicing portal?

GST E-Invoicing is applicable to every registered person whose aggregate turnover in any financial year, from 2017-18 to 2021-22, exceeds Rs. 20 crore.  Generation of e-invoice has become mandatory from 1st April 2022. In that case all registered persons who are mandated to be registered under GST as per law, should be registered on the IRP.

However, e-invoicing is not applicable for the following category of registered persons:
